Each year, the FMMAF ends the sporting season with the French MMA Championship, the most important competition in France for amateurs. This competition brings together the best amateur fighters of the year to elect the best fighter per category, the ones who are going to integrate the French National Team, as Manon Fiorot or Jordan Zebo did. At this moment, I was in apprenticeship at FMMAF, the French MMA Federation, which organizes the competition. After months working there, I had the chance to gain the confidence of my superiors, who gave me significant responsibilities. The FMMAF is a young federation, and we were only five active staff members at that time. Resources were not matching the hype that MMA was experiencing at that moment. The big challenge for me was to cover multiple scopes (communication, decoration, press relations, accreditations…) for the Championships, while also handling my regular missions at FMMAF.
I think that handling such diverse missions, with so many unexpected events happening, is truly valuable for learning. It was really challenging to maintain control over media while communicating on social media, and at the same time finding a fighter to bring him to the TV set. Many unexpected situations really helped me develop quick decision-making skills. One strong anecdote, for example: on the first day, the live stream on RMC Sport suddenly collapsed for no reason. I decided in urgency to live stream the fights on Instagram and temporarily put aside other parts of my role. This kind of situation makes the experience dynamic and significantly improves the way you take decisions. In the end, I was really happy with the experience and proud of what I achieved. I’m proud to have been able to manage such a challenging project, and to have delivered it successfully.
